Pauline is a native Central Oregonian with a passion for the outdoor environment.  As Principal Landscape Architect of Rooted Landscape Architecture, she is compelled to positively impact her surroundings through every design.  The design process is a balance of science and art.  An understanding of both natural systems and social desires is fundamental to create beautiful, deeply-rooted, functional, and livable spaces.

Ms. Chu graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Oregon and has two decades of experience studying and practicing landscape architecture.  She is a licensed Wyoming Landscape Architect and a LEED Accredited Professional.  Pauline began her career working at a multidisciplinary land development firm in Oregon.  There she assisted in designing community park spaces, stormwater and rainwater gardens, and pedestrian-oriented green streets.  It was with this group that she learned the invaluable experience of working with and learning from her allied team members.  In 2008, Pauline landed in Jackson with the goal to continue to develop design and construction experience on a variety of project types and scales.  Over the past 15 years she has gained extensive experience in residential design and planning; high-end residential design detailing; campus and park master planning; community pathways and municipal design projects; and the National Park design process, procedures, and administration.  Regular interaction with architects, engineers, contractors, and other design team members has allowed her to continue to refine her collaborative and creative problem-solving skills.

In her free-time she enjoys all the seasonal array of outdoor activities in and around Jackson Hole with her faithful companion in tow.  From the mountain tops to the river valley below, she takes pleasure in all that surrounds her.  Pauline has been a Mentor with the Teton Mentor Project since 2011 and continues to bond, laugh, and smile with her mentee.
